How the mix was made

Innovating for a new Dunedin concept

Welcome to DunedinMix. A fresh take on the old food hall concept. Our idea takes the already highly desirable trendy food hall and adds boutique popup shopping, nightly live entertainment, special events and ….. a carousel bar!

How the idea started: Brandon and Kristen (Son/Mother) purchased the property in 2018. Original building was known as Labor of Love, a birthing center, the business was long closed and building was vacant when purchased.

The reason for this site selection was due to Brandon’s frequent visits to this small town after he met his wife Ashley. Born in Montreal, but moved to Dunedin at the age of one, Ashley has lived in Dunedin her whole life. It didn’t take long for Brandon to fall in love with Dunedin and see what made it so appealing and a great choice for their first family development.

Originally the concept was to be mixed use, similar to what it is now, but during early designing and the rising residential real estate, it was discussed to build 4 story town homes. The family went through many design changes and concepts after finally resting on the current mixed use concept known as DunedinMix.
